Hello, Long Run

I completed 11 miles Saturday morning. I just ran, picked up the pace, slowed a little, picked up the pace, slowed a little, stopped a few times, stretched a lot, ran fast for the last 1/2 of a mile and drank half a coconut water, part of a Luna Bar, and headed home. What a sentence. But that was pretty much it. Its good to get back to running long runs. A week without one seems a bit abnormal.

Lets get to pre-run breakfast, shall we?

Breakfast

I had two blueberry Kashi waffles with Greek yogurt, almond butter, and cinnamon mixed together and put on top. Also half of a banana and plenty of coffee.

Post run

After the 11 miles, I ate about a 1/4 of a Luna Bar and 1/2 of a Zico coconut water. Then when I arrived at the house and showered, I made myself a Green Glow Smoothie from Toneitup.com. They put out the recipe so I wanted to try it.

Ingredients

  • 1/2-1 cup of water or coconut water
  • 1 cup of raw spinach
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 banana
  • I added in 1 scoop of protein powder, MSM powder, psyllium husk, and Stevia powder.

I also snacked on an apple, almond butter, pecans, and…I ate a girl scout cookie(s).

Then we went to go see the addition to the family!

Is he not adorable? It was pretty hard to get a picture of him. He wouldn’t stop moving. He’s very spunky, friendly, and sweet. My grandmother got him today and I think he’s perfect!

And what’s even cuter is that he will pick up the leash and give it to my grandmother when he wants to go outside. Adorable.

And we stopped at Starbucks and got a drink! I got the Tazo Chai Tea Latte with nonfat milk.

And for some weird reason, my name gets spelled like this quite often. I haven no idea why.

Coming up half marathon

Okay, so for my half marathon on Feb. 17th, my plan is to try to get my time to 1hr55minutes. Anything under would be great as well and as long as I can keep it under 2 hours, I will be satisfied. Last year, my first half marathon, I ran in 2hr15minutes. I wasn’t really into being fast or anything. But now, that’s changed. So I’m pumped to PR this race!
